Star Wars Celebration 2020 cancelled

While I knew this was coming, it's no less disappointing. I guess I'm waiting until 2022 to attend this event. Too bad, I was really looking forward to it. Here's the official news from starwars.com.

At Star Wars Celebration, the health and safety of our fans, attendees, exhibitors, guests and staff is always our number one priority. Due to the global impact of the COVID-19 virus and in speaking with local and state authorities on the latest public health guidelines related to indoor conventions, we have made the decision to cancel Star Wars Celebration for 2020. While this news is disappointing, we are happy to announce that Star Wars Celebration will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on August 18-21, 2022.

CLARKS VINTAGE 1977 STAR WARS BOXED SHOES

OK I'm super excited about finding these and I just had to show them. Great little item. Mint in- box unworn condition, complete with insert, carrier bag, labels and laces. All 100% original. Clark's Star Wars Jet Fighter shoes CIRCA 1977. I picked them up at my local comic book haunt Retro Rare collectable. The fact that these have survived for 40 years without being worn is truly astounding. Definitely one of the more curious pieces in my collection that I acquired. Don't think I'll ever sell these.

Rogue One Premiere Ticket

One of the more exciting things I've done this year was participate in the Canadian Premiere of Star Wars Rogue One on Wednesday December 14th . I was invited to this event and it was a memorable event indeed. One of the perks of the event was receiving this special limited ticket to commemorate this spectacular evening. There is nothing quite like attending a Star Wars premiere as the electricity in the air is unlike any other event of this kind and I have to thank Walt Disney for letting me participate. I just had this ticket framed professionally and it now hangs on the wall in my living were I will display it proudly for many many years to come.

Hot Toys Rey and BB-8

I have the Gentle Giant Rey mini-bust on order but I haven't had a chance to grab this one, at least not yet. The Hot Toys Rey and BB-8 Sixth Scale Figure Set is now available at Sideshow.com. These aren't cheap but when you look at the detail, especially in the face you can certain see why they command such a premium. These are by far the most detailed figures on the market designed for the most serious of collectors.I buy to many more of these and I'll probably go broke. Current price in Canadian  is between $350.00 and $450.00...that is if you can find one.

Happy Hunting !

Black Series - Imperial Hovertank Pilot - Toys “R”Us Exclusive

EXCLUSIVE: Star Wars: The Black Series 6-Inch Imperial Hover-tank Pilot Figure. Just picked this up tonight at my local Toys “R”Us in Toronto and as usual they had it priced incorrectly at $29.95 when in actuality the price of their exclusive figures is $36.95, wish they'd stop doing that... Anyway, glad I found it, definitely one of the nicer figures that Hasbro has introduced in a while. An elite soldier for the Galactic Empire, this impressive 6-inch scale Imperial Hover-tank Pilot figure features articulated movement and true-to-story detail. Available exclusively at Toys “R” Us. Another impressive piece for my ever growing collection.

Dynamic Forces - Darth Vader #1

One of the interesting things Marvel has done with the new line of Star Wars comic books is to license out to certain companies the right to producer exclusive covers in very limited quantities. They've done this for not only Star Wars, but also the Princess Leia and Darth Vader comic books as well. While generally more expensive than the standard addition they are highly sought after by Star Wars fans and very difficult to acquire. I picked up this little gem last weekend at one of my local comic books stores "Gotham Central Comics"" in Mississauga. This is the Darth Vader #1, Dynamic Forces Exclusive cover, one of a specially limited series of 3000 copies. It cost me $25.00 which inst cheep but well worth the money. One of the nicest Darth Vader covers I've see so far and I'm super excited about finding this. As you can see it comes with its own certificates of authenticity, Custom Medallion stamp sealed in an archival Mylite bag.

Boba Fett - Sideshow Collectables.

Picked up the Boba Fett Side Show Collectables figure last week very excited about owning this one.  At $350.00 + tax it wasn't cheap, but given he's one of the most popular villains in Star Wars I couldn't pass up on it. Something tells me this one is going to become very scarce, very quickly. Decided to jump on it while the opportunity presented itself. Another fantastic find from Retro Rare Collectables in Mississauga.

80s Toys Toy Expo - Mississauge - May 1st 2016

A great little event held several times each year Mississauga. If you're a 70 and 80s Toy collector then this is the show for you.

501st Legion in attendance for this event.

Black Series Star Wars action figures. Price vary depending on the rarity some are very difficult to find. I gave some serious thought to picking up the Boba Fett.

Dragon WW II action figures, very detailed and for $25.00 out of box, a very good price to be sure.

Custom action figures by local artist Mike Thain. His company SoDaT Collectables remodels many different figures each one more impressive than the last. You can see his stuff on Facebook,.

Skateboard decks from San Bernadino California, price $120.00 a piece. Very Cool !

Another great show, cant wait for the nest one. Always a good time and I kept my spending under control form once which was not easy.

Star Wars #16 Yu Variant.

I was lucky enough to acquire the Star Ware #16 Yu variant last weekend. It cost me $15.00 bucks and that exactly what it's worth. I found this little gem at one of my local comic book haunts Gotham Central Comics in Mississauga, I love the cover, I definitely prefer it to the regular cover and I'm very happy with this find.

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi / Rare Original "Revenge" Advance One-Sheet Poster

Currently up for sale on ScreenUsed.com for the low low price of $1,199.00 a Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi - "Revenge" Advance One-Sheet Poster. This is extremely rare and if I had the bucks I'd buy it right now. Those of us that are into Star Wars know the story behind George Lucas's decision to change the name of the film at the last minute. These were printed in limited quantities and to find one in near mint condition is very difficult to say the least.

Star Wars - The Force Awakens.

OK, I saw it on opening night December 18th and I saw it again last weekend. A masterful blend of the old generation and the new, Star Wars: The Force Awakens brings the franchise back to its full, impeccable form. Very much what I expected from Abrams, a great ride from beginning to end. If anything the only issue I had was that it bared many similarities to the original film (A New Hope - Episode IV) so in that respect it did lack some originality, but I'm OK with that. I love the fact they kept the CGI to a minimum, it was refreshing to see real movie sets again, constructed by real carpenters and real prop makers, some very talented people worked on this project. True to life scale models, realistic puppetry, Matt paintings and all those cool things that made the original three films so spectacular. Also very impressed with the work of Daisey Ridley excellent performance by her and the rest of the cast. Congratulations Disney, you didn't f--k it up... now keep it going.

.

Episode 36 - January Awakens

The latest Episode of my Comic Book Channel. Given that Star Wars recently hit the theaters many of these books relate to Star Wars, however there are some pretty cool Bronze Age books near the end.

Darth Vader's Helmet - Empire Strkes Back - $115,000.00

Did you know that the screen used Darth Vader Helmet from Empire Strikes Back sold at auction for $115,000.00 dollars...now you do...It was sold through Profiles in History (See link on right) a Hollywood memorabilia site that specializes in auctioning off some very fine movie props. Many of the Star Wars props from the original three films were auctioned though this site.
