Anime North 2016

Had a fantastic time last weekend at Anime North, this is the first time I've ever attended the conversion and I was not disappointed. Such an amazing time with amazing people and some of the most impressive cosplay I've ever seen. Anime North is an anime convention located in Toronto,  that celebrates anime, manga, music, games and all other forms of Japanese Culture.Anime North was held last weekend May 27 - 29 at the Toronto Congress Centre and International Plaza Hotel. I took some pics, hope you like them. I will definitely be at this event next year for sure.

Hot Toys - Gamora

Glad I picked this one up when I did, it's completely sold out and prices on Amazon are already starting to rise, ranging anywhere from $300.00 to $700.00.  The movie-accurate Hot Toys  Gamora one sixth scale figure is specially crafted based on the image of Zoe Saldana as Gamora in the film, featuring the newly developed head sculpt, a highly detailed costume, weapons and accessories. This is a must have, but unfortunately if you want it now you'll probably have to go the the secondary market. One of my more expensive pickups but well worth the money. 

Dynamic Forces - Darth Vader #1

One of the interesting things Marvel has done with the new line of Star Wars comic books is to license out to certain companies the right to producer exclusive covers in very limited quantities. They've done this for not only Star Wars, but also the Princess Leia and Darth Vader comic books as well. While generally more expensive than the standard addition they are highly sought after by Star Wars fans and very difficult to acquire. I picked up this little gem last weekend at one of my local comic books stores "Gotham Central Comics"" in Mississauga. This is the Darth Vader #1, Dynamic Forces Exclusive cover, one of a specially limited series of 3000 copies. It cost me $25.00 which inst cheep but well worth the money. One of the nicest Darth Vader covers I've see so far and I'm super excited about finding this. As you can see it comes with its own certificates of authenticity, Custom Medallion stamp sealed in an archival Mylite bag.

Hauptsturmfuhrer Otto Skorzeny: Dragon

For those of you that don't want to spend a fortune but at the same time are looking for the very best in quality and collectability, you need look no farther than Dragon Modeling Ltd. DML was established in 1987 to manufacture plastic Model Kits according to its own designs. The high quality products that DML has produced have won numerous awards from magazines and modeling societies throughout the world. They are becoming very popular at collector toy conventions and as you can see from the pics I took last weekend there are plenty to choose from. To date Dragon has produced more than 1,000 different models so you won't run out of thing to collect any time soon. Priced around $40-60.00 mint in box, but you can also find lose figures in good condition for anywhere from 25.00-$30.00 per piece.

I myself picked up this beautiful Otto Skorzeny figure for C$25.00 at the last toy show, out of box. It has absolutely no wear what-so-ever and looks like it was manufactured yesterday. Released in July 1993 this is an exceptional representation of Otto Skorzeny as he looked in the Gran Sasso Raid of 1943. Otto Skorzeny was chosen as the field commander to carry out the rescue mission that freed the deposed Italian dictator Benito Mussolini from captivity.  Skorzeny was also the leader of Operation Grief, in which German soldiers were to infiltrate through enemy lines, using their opponents’ language, uniforms, and customs to cause as much destruction and sabotage as possible. I'm very exciting about picking this up and everyone that has seen it so far marvels at the detail.

Dc Collectable - DeathStroke - Mini-Bust

Bought this piece last year at Retro Rare Collectables for C$95.00. This one is discontinued and limited to 2500 units at the time of production. Very hard to find, so hard in fact that I couldn't even find one selling on E Bay, current market value is unknown. Last one I saw sold at Gotham Central about 6 months ago and I believe the price tag was $120.00 but with such a low production run I'm certain that will increase. Of all the DC Mini Bust currently available I believe the Deathstroke is by far the nicest, the detail in the armor is nothing short of spectacular.  Designed by Jim Lee and Sculpted by Joseph Menna, this is a must have for any collector. Below are some shot I took of my actual bust which gives you a pretty good idea of the detail.

Boba Fett - Sideshow Collectables.

Picked up the Boba Fett Side Show Collectables figure last week very excited about owning this one.  At $350.00 + tax it wasn't cheap, but given he's one of the most popular villains in Star Wars I couldn't pass up on it. Something tells me this one is going to become very scarce, very quickly. Decided to jump on it while the opportunity presented itself. Another fantastic find from Retro Rare Collectables in Mississauga.

 A great little event held several times each year Mississauga. If you're a 70 and 80s Toy collector then this is the show for you.

 Black Series Star Wars action figures. Price vary depending on the rarity some are very difficult to find. I gave some serious thought to picking up the Boba Fett. 

Dragon WW II action figures, very detailed and for $25.00 out of box, a very good price to be sure.

 Custom action figures by local artist Mike Thain. His company SoDaT Collectables remodels many different figures each one more impressive than the last. You can see his stuff on Facebook,.

 Skateboard decks from San Bernadino California, price $120.00 a piece. Very Cool !

Another great show, cant wait for the nest one. Always a good time and I kept my spending under control form once which was not easy.
